Every kit pairs a traditional Icelandic pattern with genuine Ístex lopi — the exact yarn the design was written for. Knitting your own lopapeysa takes time and patience, and that is rather the point: hours of good work, and a sweater you will never take for granted.

I've never knitted a lopapeysa — can I manage a kit?

Many of our customers knit their first lopapeysa from one of these kits. Choose a one-colour or simple-yoke design to start, and warm up with our free patterns. Stuck mid-project? Write to us — we knit these ourselves.

What exactly is in the box?

The knitting pattern and the genuine Ístex lopi yarn for the design. On most kits you can add needles as an option at no fuss.

Which yarn do the kits use?

Most use Léttlopi — the classic lopapeysa yarn — while some designs call for Álafoss Lopi, Plötulopi or Einband. Each kit page says which.

Do US orders pay customs on delivery?

No — duties and taxes are settled at checkout, so nothing is due when the parcel arrives. No customs bills, no courier fees.
