Good to know

Ravenna — your questions, answered

Why is one colour different from the pattern?
Sapphire blue heather (9968) is no longer made. This kit has space blue (1233) in its place — the one blue in the blanket, wherever the chart key shows 9968. Space blue is brighter than the deep, shaded blue in the photo. It is the same replacement as in our Þúfa cushion kit. You can choose another shade in the colour picker.
Is it a blanket or a rug?
Either — the chart is headed “RUG” and the instructions “BLANKET”, but it is the same piece, 80 × 140 cm.
Is it hard to knit?
It is for knitters who have done some intarsia: ten colours, many separate areas, each from its own small ball, and a lot of ends to weave in. The pattern gives no difficulty rating. The border is plain moss stitch.
Is there anything to watch for in the pattern?
Two things. The “main colour” for the cast-on and borders is never named — it is ecru heather (9972), the colour with 4 balls, also used for the outlines in the chart. And on page 3 the row numbers beside the chart do not line up with the drawn rows: more rows are drawn than numbered (our count). Follow the drawn rows square by square — a ruler or row counter helps — and knit the last 16 border rows when the chart is finished, rather than counting to row 237. Page 2 (rows 17–124) is numbered correctly.
Will I have yarn left over?
The kit holds the 13 balls the pattern lists: 4 of ecru heather and one each of the nine other colours. By our count of the chart, each colour uses well under its ball, so expect some of every colour left over (our calculation).
What does the kit with needles include?
A 6 mm (US 10) circular needle in 100 cm, as the pattern asks — ADDI, as named in the pattern.
