Your questions, answered
What exactly is a Nordling?
Are the keychains sturdy?
Which one should I start with?
Do these add to my shipping cost?
Can I see all your gifts in one place?
Nordlings® are our own characters — a crew of Vikings, puffins, Valkyries, hidden folk and the odd lost tourist, drawn in Iceland by Ninna Þórarinsdóttir. Each one is numbered, and each one turns up across several things: a keychain, a lapel pin, a luggage tag, a plush toy, a postcard. People tend to pick a favourite and then collect the set.
Why do people buy Nordlings instead of an ordinary Iceland souvenir?
Because they get used. A sturdy enamel keychain or a bright luggage tag goes on the keys or the suitcase and stays there; a fridge magnet from the airport goes in a drawer. The designs are inspired by real places and folklore — lava and glaciers, sea cliffs and hot springs, longships and northern lights — with a sense of humour about what it is actually like to visit.
Because we make them ourselves they are always in stock, and because they are light they add nothing to shipping when they ride along with a sweater, a blanket or a candy order. The full giftware line, including tea towels, mugs, stickers and Christmas ornaments, is in Gifts from Iceland. U.S. duties are settled at checkout; shipping is free on orders over $149.
