The Icelandic Store
Icelandic Books - Knitting - Trolls - Cooking - Birds - Volcano
A shelf of books from Iceland: children's stories and troll tales, folklore books about the 13 Yule Lads — the thirteen mischievous brothers of genuine Icelandic Christmas tradition — plus knitting books, Icelandic cookbooks with classic cakes and breads, and nature guides covering Iceland's birds, volcanoes and flowering plants.
Which Icelandic book should I start with?
That depends on who's reading. Knitters love the lopi pattern books — pair one with yarn and our free knitting patterns and you're set for winter. For children, the Yule Lads books are a wonderful introduction to Icelandic folklore. And if you fell for the landscape on a visit, the volcano and bird guides bring it home.
We're a small family-run shop in Hafnarfjörður, Iceland, family-run since 2013 — we stock the books we'd give our own family. Questions? Just ask us.
