Shipping, Duties & Returns
Everything we sell ships from our warehouse in Hafnarfjörður, Iceland — packed by our own small team and sent worldwide. Here is exactly how shipping, duties and returns work, with no fine print.
Free shipping over $149
Orders of $149 or more ship free to the United States, Canada and Europe — applied automatically at checkout, fully tracked. (Unusually heavy items such as beverage multipacks always show their real shipping cost — a case of Appelsín weighs more than a sweater!) For other destinations, and orders under $149, the carrier options below apply.
U.S. orders: duties are included at checkout
Since July 2026, all U.S. import duties are calculated and collected at checkout, together with your order. The total you see at checkout is the full and final price — no customs bills, no carrier fees, no surprises at the door. We handle the customs paperwork and payment on your behalf, and your parcel is delivered with nothing further to pay.
Shipping options and delivery times
- DHL Express — our fastest option: typically 2–5 business days after dispatch, with full tracking. Recommended for anything time-sensitive.
- Iceland Post — the economical option: typically 5–15 business days, traceable.
The options available for your country are shown at checkout after you enter your address. We don't mark up shipping — the price you see is what the carrier charges us.
When will my order ship?
We dispatch most orders within 1–3 working days. We can't guarantee this timeframe — it can vary with the season, product availability and weather (this is Iceland, after all).
Hand-knitted and tailor-made sweaters are different: each one is knitted individually for you after you order, by one of our knitters. That takes anywhere from a few weeks to several months depending on the design and the season. You're always welcome to ask us for a status update.
Visiting Iceland? Order ahead and collect in our shop
You can order online and pick up for free at our shop and warehouse at Miðhella 4, 221 Hafnarfjörður — about 20 minutes' drive from downtown Reykjavík — Monday–Friday 9:00–16:00. In-stock orders are usually ready within 24 hours, and you're welcome to order ahead of your trip so everything is waiting for you.
How to choose pickup at checkout:
- Add your items to the cart and go to checkout.
- In the Delivery step, set Country/Region to Iceland — even if you live somewhere else. A Pickup option then appears; choose our Hafnarfjörður store (free).
- In the Payment step, your billing address stays your normal home address.
Good to know: pickup orders are delivered in Iceland, so prices include 24% Icelandic VAT instead of your home country's taxes. And if you'd like a tailor-made sweater waiting for you, order well before your trip — each one is knitted individually, which takes weeks to months. Email us your travel dates and we'll do our best to have everything ready.
Customs outside the U.S.
For destinations outside the U.S. — for example the EU, Canada and Australia — import duties or VAT may be charged when your order arrives in your country. These charges are set and collected by your local authorities; your local customs office can tell you what to expect.
Returns and exchanges
Returns are accepted within 30 days of receiving your order, for unused items in their original packaging. Email us first with your order number, then ship the item to: Ísprjón (Icelandic Store), Miðhella 4, 221 Hafnarfjörður, Iceland, with a note inside carrying your order number. Return shipping is paid by the customer; once we receive and check the item, we refund you (excluding the original shipping cost). For exchanges, tell us which item you'd like instead and we'll arrange it.

Will I pay customs fees on a U.S. order?
No. Since July 2026, all U.S. import duties are calculated and collected at checkout, together with your order. The total you see at checkout is the full and final price — no customs bills and nothing to pay on delivery.
Do you ship worldwide?
Yes — we ship worldwide every week from Hafnarfjörður, Iceland. DHL Express typically delivers in 2–5 business days after dispatch with full tracking; Iceland Post typically takes 5–15 business days. The options for your country are shown at checkout.
How long until my order ships?
We dispatch most orders within 1–3 working days. Hand-knitted and tailor-made sweaters are made individually for you after you order, which takes anywhere from a few weeks to several months depending on the season and our knitters.
How do I track my order?
When your order ships you receive an email with a tracking number and link. Tracking can take up to 48 hours to become active. DHL Express orders are tracked at dhl.com, Iceland Post orders at posturinn.is.

Can I cancel or change my order?
Yes — as long as it has not shipped. Email us as soon as possible and we will do our best. Yarn colour changes on knitting kits are always welcome before the kit ships.
Do you offer free shipping?
Certain products include free worldwide shipping — this is clearly stated on the product page. For everything else, shipping is calculated at checkout at the carrier's actual price, with no markup from us.
