Alrún blankets are jacquard-woven wool throws whose designs grow out of Norse bindrunes — the Love and Strength symbols, layered and mirrored into striking modern Scandinavian patterns. The dense jacquard weave is warm yet breathable, and each blanket is finished with fringes.
What is a bindrune?
A bindrune combines several runes into a single symbol — a genuine tradition from the Norse world. Alrún's designers transformed two of them, love and strength, into the geometric patterns woven through these blankets, so each throw quietly carries its meaning.
One honest note: Alrún blankets are woven from Oeko-Tex certified New Zealand wool rather than Icelandic wool — we'd rather tell you that plainly. If it's the genuine Icelandic fleece you're after, our Icelandic wool blankets are the place to look. We're a small family-run shop in Hafnarfjörður, Iceland, family-run since 2013, and honest answers are part of the deal — just ask us.
