Kata Felting - Hand made Icelandic Felted Wool figures and Ornaments
Kata's felted wool figures are made entirely by hand in Iceland from natural Icelandic wool — angels, northern-lights elves, ladies knitting and crocheting, puffins, Vikings and sheep. Each one is shaped and sewn individually, so no two are ever quite alike.
What is felted wool?
Felting works loose wool fibers together until they become a dense, sturdy fabric that can be sculpted — an old craft that suits Icelandic wool beautifully. Kata uses it for ornaments and keepsakes, including her most beloved piece: a complete nativity scene with Mary, Joseph, baby Jesus and the three wise men, all in soft natural wool colors.
These make lovely souvenirs and gifts with a genuinely Icelandic story behind them. We're a small family-run shop in Hafnarfjörður, Iceland, doing things the same way since 2013 — real handwork, honestly described. If you'd like to know more about a particular figure, just ask us.
