Álafoss has been working Icelandic wool since 1896 — the name comes from the waterfall that powered the original mill. Their blankets are the classic Icelandic throw: woven from pure new Icelandic wool, light for their warmth, and made to be used daily, not saved for guests.
Landscape, jacquard or classic?
The landscape series carries the colours of Icelandic nature in broad, calm stripes. The jacquard designs weave traditional motifs — horses, birds, frost roses — into the fabric itself. The solid colours are the quiet ones that fit any room. All of them air clean easily (wool's old trick), and with basic care an Álafoss blanket becomes the thing your family argues over on movie nights.
Woven in Iceland from Icelandic wool — and yes, we have them on our own sofas in Hafnarfjörður.
