Fjarski is Icelandic for a vast distance, and the pattern suits the name: rows of white dots run across five bands of grey, pale at the ends and charcoal in the middle, and the dots shrink as the grey darkens. Pattern no. 1020 is by Védís Jónsdóttir, woven in jacquard so the back is its mirror image — white with grey dots.
Icelandic wool is warm and light at once. The fleece has fine, soft inner fibres that hold the heat and long, glossy outer fibres that shed damp, so this is a blanket to keep within reach: folded at the end of the bed, over the back of the sofa, or around you on a cold evening.
130 × 180 cm (about 51 × 71 in), with stitched edges and no fringe. Air it out between uses — wool rarely needs washing.
