These are the traditional Icelandic sweaters for women — lopapeysur hand-knitted in Iceland from 100% Icelandic sheep's wool. Every one is knitted by hand, so no two are exactly alike, and every one carries the circular yoke pattern that has kept Icelandic women warm for generations.
Icelandic wool earns its reputation honestly: the fleece combines a soft, insulating inner fibre with a weather-resistant outer coat, making a sweater that is light on the shoulders, warm in wind and rain, and breathable indoors.
Pullover, cardigan or hooded — which suits you?
The pullover is the classic; a cardigan with buttons or a zip is easier to layer and take off indoors; hooded styles add extra protection on raw days. Icelandic sweaters are worn relaxed, often over a light layer — check our size guide, or have one made to your measurements.
We're a family-run shop in Hafnarfjörður, and we only sell what we'd wear ourselves — real wool, real hand-knitting, and honest answers if you're unsure about a size or a colour.
