Lay a sweater that already fits you well flat and measure straight across the chest just under the arms, then match that number to the chest width column in the size table. The table gives the width laid flat, so double it for the full chest: size M is 53 cm across, or 106 cm around. We cannot alter a sweater, so pick the nearest size.

Is it warm enough for a real winter?

Yes. Three strands of Plötulopi knitted together make this the thickest knit we sell. Ístex, the mill that makes the wool, describes Icelandic wool as lightweight, water-repellent and highly breathable, with fine inner fibres that insulate and long outer fibres that resist the weather.

How does it feel to wear?

Thick, dense and warm, with the dry, springy feel of Icelandic wool. It is worn over a shirt or a long-sleeved top, the way Icelanders wear theirs. One owner, who has had a hand-knitted Icelandic sweater since 1983, says this one is as warm as the old one.

By hand, in lukewarm water, with a mild wool soap such as Lopisápa. Swish it gently, never rub or twist, rinse in lukewarm water, press the water out and lay it flat on a towel to dry, away from heat and sun. Store it folded in a cool, dry place, not in a plastic bag.

Yes. An unworn sweater in its original condition can be exchanged for another size under our return policy, linked at the foot of every page. Return postage is yours to pay unless the sweater is faulty or the mistake is ours.
