Hosuband is Icelandic wool reinforced with 20% polyamide, made for knitting that has to survive hard wear. Socks first and foremost — but it also makes tough mittens, hats and everyday sweaters that hold their shape year after year.

Why is there nylon in it?
The 20% polyamide adds strength exactly where knits wear out — heels, toes, elbows — so garments last far longer than pure wool would.
Is it only for socks?
Socks are what it was made for, but it knits excellent mittens, hats and hard-wearing everyday sweaters too.
What tension does it knit at?
About 19 stitches per 10 cm on 4–4.5 mm needles — a standard worsted weight.
Hosuband is reinforced with polyamide (nylon) which makes it perfect not only for socks that last, but also for sweaters, mittens and hats. Hosuband is worsted weight yarn. 80% new wool, 20% polyamide (nylon). 100 g (3.5 oz) approx. 130 m (142 yd). Gauge: 19 sts to 10 cm(4") over St st using size 4 - 4½ mm (Old UK 8-7) (US 6-7).
