Einband is a fine single-ply lace and fingering yarn spun from 100% Icelandic wool. It is the shawl and lace knitter's lopi — and a quiet workhorse: two strands together knit like Léttlopi, and a single strand plied with Plötulopi adds strength. The wool softens beautifully after its first wash.

What is Einband best for?

Shawls, lace and delicate garments first — but also mittens, fine lightweight sweaters and weaving. It is the most versatile fine yarn in the lopi family.

Can I knit a sweater with it?

Yes — a single strand makes a fine, light sweater, and two strands together knit at roughly the same weight as Léttlopi.

Why do patterns say to wash the swatch first?

Einband stretches, so a garment is hard to measure until it has been washed. Knit a gauge square, wash it, let it dry and measure then — the wool also softens noticeably.

Can I see the colours before buying?

Lopi Einband is the finest of all yarn weights that works up at a fingering to lace weight. The wool yarn is perfect for light garments, like gossamer shawls, wraps, scarves and light sweaters and despite of its fineness, there are plenty of lace knitting patterns and lace crochet patterns that will keep you warm.
