Icelandic chocolate is a small world with strong opinions. Nói Síríus has made the country's everyday chocolate in Reykjavík since 1933, Freyja and Góa are the two other family names every Icelander grew up with, and Omnom is the newer bean-to-bar maker whose wrappers you notice on the way out of Keflavík airport. This collection is all of it in one place, packed by us in Hafnarfjörður and shipped from Iceland.

What does Icelandic chocolate taste like?

Milk chocolate here is creamy and a little less sweet than most American bars, and it is usually paired with the things Icelanders actually eat: salty liquorice, puffed rice, toffee with sea salt, lava-shaped crunch. If you have never had chocolate and liquorice together, start with Þristur; it is the most reordered item in this collection. If you prefer it plain, the Nói Síríus dark bars and the sea-salt milk chocolate are the safe, very good choice. The handmade Volcano, Aurora and Waterfall bars are the ones people give as gifts.

Browse by maker: Nói Síríus, Freyja, Góa and Omnom. Not sure where to start? The Homesick Box is how most first-timers try it. Everything ships from Iceland, and U.S. and Canadian duties are settled at checkout, so there is nothing to pay at the door.
