Which size should I choose?

Lay a sweater that already fits you well flat and measure straight across the chest just under the arms, then match that number to the chest width column in the size table. The table gives the width laid flat, so double it for the full chest: size M is 53 cm flat, 106 cm around. We cannot alter a sweater, so pick the nearest size.

Is there a cardigan in this pattern?

Yes. Valkyrja is our buttoned cardigan with the same zigzag yoke in the same beige, brown, black and white. You will find it among our women's cardigans.

How does it feel to wear?

Thick, dense and warm, with the dry, springy feel of Icelandic wool. A lopapeysa is worn over a shirt or a long-sleeved top, the way Icelanders wear theirs, and worn that way it is comfortable all day. One owner sums hers up as comfortable, warm and beautiful.

By hand, in lukewarm water, with a mild wool soap such as Lopisápa. Swish it gently without rubbing or twisting, rinse in lukewarm water, press the water out without wringing, and lay it flat on a towel to dry, away from heat and sun. Store it folded in a cool, dry place, not in a plastic bag.

Can I exchange it if the size is wrong?

Yes. An unworn sweater in its original condition can be exchanged for another size under our return policy, linked at the foot of every page. Return postage is yours to pay unless the sweater is faulty or the mistake is ours.

Skjaldmey is the Icelandic word for a shield-maiden, the woman warrior of the old sagas. Her sweater is the pullover version of our Valkyrja cardigan: the same zigzag bands on a soft beige body, in the thickest wool we knit.
