Description

Flétta is Icelandic for a braid or plait, and that is the heart of this blanket: two grey bands crossing and re-crossing down a wide cream centre panel, like the strands of a plait. On either side, columns of cream zigzags and diamonds run the length of a soft, heathered grey. Pattern no. 0402, designed in Iceland by Védís Jónsdóttir.

It is woven from Icelandic wool, which is light for its size and warm once it is over you. The colours are calm enough to live with every day, in a modern room or a cabin.

130 × 180 cm (about 51 × 71 in), with stitched edges all round and no fringe. Air it out between uses; when it does need washing, hand wash in lukewarm water with wool soap, don’t wring it, and dry it flat.

Is it more grey or more white?

About half and half. The outer thirds are a soft, heathered light grey with cream zigzags; the centre is cream with the grey plait running through it. From across a room it reads as a pale, light blanket.

Will it cover a bed?
