Overview
What's in the kit
Boði, by Védís Jónsdóttir from Ístex’s Lopi 25: a men’s zip vest in Álafosslopi, knitted flat in pieces. Speckled stripe blocks — navy and garnet red Léttlopi knitted together — cross the back yoke and sit at different heights on the two fronts, and the high folded collar is navy with a red line. The pattern’s sapphire blue heather (9968, printed “saphire blue”) is no longer made; this kit has 1233 space blue in its place.
Included
- Icelandic Álafosslopi and Léttlopi wool yarn — yarn for the largest size is included, so every size is covered
- Knitting pattern in English (PDF) — emailed right after purchase

How it is knitted
The back and the two fronts are knitted flat in stocking stitch on 6 mm needles from charts, each starting with a single purl ridge — there is no rib at the hem. Stripe blocks run across the back yoke and, at different heights, across the two fronts. In these rows the blue is stranded with navy and garnet red Léttlopi held together as one strand, which gives a speckled navy-and-red stitch. After the seams are sewn, narrow garter bands in navy Léttlopi are picked up along the fronts. The collar is K1, P1 rib — 6 cm in the blue, 5 cm in navy and 2 rows in red — folded in half to the outside and sewn down stitch by stitch, so it shows navy with a red line at its base. The armholes get a round of navy rib and a last round of red. The zip is sewn in by hand.
