Múr — your questions, answered

Why is the colour different from the pattern?
Green moss (9985) is no longer made by Ístex. This kit has highland green (1230) in its place — it is the only colour, so the whole sweater is knitted in it. Of the Álafosslopi greens Ístex still makes, highland green is the closest to the photo: an olive green heather, but a little browner and less bright than the moss green in the photo. You can choose another shade in the colour picker.
Which size should I knit?
Five sizes, XS to XL, with a chest of 87, 93, 99, 104 and 110 cm, 42 to 50 cm from hem to underarm and sleeves of 50 to 54 cm. The pattern prints no total length; it comes to about 60 to 70 cm (our calculation). It is shown on a young man, and the pattern does not say women or men.
Will I have yarn left over?
The kit holds 10 balls of highland green — the amount for XL. XS and S use 8 balls, M and L use 9.
How does the texture work?
It is only knit and purl, in rounds, written out in the Note at the start of the pattern: rounds 1–2 K1, P1; round 3 knit; round 4 purl; rounds 5–6 P1, K1; round 7 knit; round 8 purl. The pattern does not say where in the 8 rounds the yoke decreases fall. Our reading: the joining round and the purl round after it are the first 2 of the 16 yoke rounds — then every decrease falls on a plain knit round (round 3 or 7), and the purl round before the bind-off follows straight on in the pattern.
Anything to watch for in the pattern?
Three small slips. After the first yoke decrease it says “work 3 (3, 7, 7) rnds” — four numbers for five sizes. We take them as XS, S, M and L, and work 7 rounds for XL too, so its yoke is as deep as M and L (our reading). The body says to end “with 2nd or 6th rnd in chart” — there is no chart; it means the written 8-round pattern. And the last decrease says “row” where it means round.
Is the black T-shirt part of it?
No — the black crew neck in the photo is a T-shirt worn underneath. The sweater’s own neck is a single purl round and a loose bind-off.
What does the kit with needles include?
6 mm (US 10) circular needles in 40 and 80 cm; 6 mm double-pointed needles — ADDI, as named in the pattern. Stitch holders and a tapestry needle are not included.
