Icelandic Christmas is its own world. Instead of one Santa we have thirteen — the Yule Lads, mischievous brothers who come down from the mountains one by one in the days before Christmas, each with his own habit: Spoon-Licker, Door-Slammer, Skyr-Gobbler. Children leave a shoe in the window; well-behaved ones get a small gift each night.
Who are the Yule Lads — and how do you bring them home?
The easiest way is the ornaments: our Yule Lads ornament series adds one lad to the tree each year (collectors take this seriously), the figurines put the whole family on the mantelpiece, and NOX's handmade ornaments bring modern Icelandic design to the season. All of it rooted in real folklore — not invented for the gift shop.
