Icelandic Yule Lad - Pot Licker

Pottasleikir - Pottaskefill or PotLicker - Pot-scraper (16th Dec.) is the fifth Yule Lad to make his journey down from the mountains.

Once he spots a house, he heads straight to the kitchen, and when he is sure that no one is looking he proceeds to lap up all the leftover bits of food in the pots - leading everyone in the household to believe the pots are clean!

Pot Scraper, the fifth one,
was a funny sort of chap.
When kids were given scrapings,
he'd come to the door and tap.

And they would rush to see
if there really was a guest.
Then he hurried to the pot
and had a scraping fest.

What is the meaning of Potlicker or pot scraper?

Pot Licker refers to Pottasleikir, one of Iceland’s 13 Yule Lads in Christmas folklore, whose name comes from the Icelandic pottur (pot) and sleikir (licker), meaning someone who licks pots clean. It describes his mischievous habit of sneaking into homes to scrape and lick leftover food, especially burnt scraps, from cooking pots. Pottasleikir has a very long tongue and skillfully licks the pots shiny clean.

The 13 Yulelads are said to life in the mountains of Iceland and are sons of a terrifying ogress named Grýla and their father is Leppalúði.
