All sixteen of them in one box: the thirteen Yule Lads, their mother Grýla, her husband Leppalúði and the Yule Cat — hand-painted figures based on the drawings of Brian Pilkington, the artist whose books taught a generation of Icelandic children who these characters are.
In Iceland the lads come down from the mountains one a night from 12 December — Sheep-Cote Clod first, Candle Beggar last on Christmas Eve — each with his own mischief: Spoon Licker, Door Slammer, Sausage Swiper, Window Peeper. Children leave a shoe in the window and find a small gift in the morning, or a potato if they have misbehaved. With the full set you can tell the whole story, one figure at a time.
Each figure is packed separately for the journey. Also available as a set of 14 hanging ornaments; Brian Pilkington's Yule Lads book tells the family's story.
