Askasleikir, Bowl Licker, is the sixth of Iceland's thirteen Yule Lads and comes to town on 17 December. An askur is the lidded wooden bowl Icelanders once ate from. As the National Museum of Iceland tells it, he hid under the bed, and when someone put their bowl down on the floor he grabbed it and licked it clean.
The figure catches him round-eyed, with the lid of the bowl lifted. It is about 11 cm tall, on a red base lettered ASKASLEIKIR. Brian Pilkington designed the series, and each figure is painted by hand. Each comes in a clear window box with a booklet in English. Decorative, not a toy.
