- STÚFUR in gold on the red ring
Stúfur, known in English as Shorty or Stubby, is the third of Iceland's thirteen Yule Lads and comes on 14 December. He is the short one of the family, and the National Museum of Iceland also calls him Pan Scraper, for the bits of food he tried to snatch from the frying pan.
On this hanging ornament, designed by Brian Pilkington, he hangs by both hands from the top of a red ring lettered STÚFUR, grinning, with one foot kicked out. Painted by hand on both sides, about 7.5 cm (3 in), boxed with a small English booklet. A decoration, not a toy. He is one of the set of all 14.

Why you'll love it
- A long trip for a small ladThe maker's booklet says the walk down from the mountains on 14 December is, for Stúfur, a very long one. He makes it every year anyway.
- Also known as Pan ScraperThe National Museum of Iceland says he used to try to snatch bits of food from the frying pan. The booklet says he likes the scorched bits best.
- First to come for the cookingThe two brothers before him go to the sheep shed and the cowshed. Stúfur is the first to head for the kitchen, and Spoon Licker follows him the next night.
- The souvenir you meant to buyOne customer looked at these in Iceland during the summer, when the shops had only a few, and ordered later from home.
