Askasleikir, Bowl Licker, is the sixth of Iceland's thirteen Yule Lads and comes to town on 17 December. Icelanders once ate from an askur, a wooden bowl with a lid, and kept it under the bed or on the floor. According to the National Museum of Iceland, he hid under the bed and licked clean any bowl put down within reach.
On this ornament he squats inside a red ring with his tongue out, holding up his bowl. He is modelled and painted by hand on both sides, about 7.5 cm (3 in), and hangs from a gold-coloured cord. Designed by Brian Pilkington for Sólarfilma. A booklet in English comes in the box.
