Gluggagægir, the Window Peeper, is the tenth of Iceland's thirteen Yule Lads and comes to town on 21 December. The National Museum of Iceland describes him as less greedy than his brothers: he liked to peep through windows, and sometimes took the toys he saw.
Brian Pilkington's hand-painted figure has him holding an empty wooden window frame up to his face, spectacles on his nose, in a plum knitted waistcoat and striped stockings. About 13 cm (5.1 in) tall, in a window box with a small English booklet about the Yule Lads.
A display figure, not a toy. Collect him singly or as part of the set of all 16.

Why you'll love it
- A Lad for the windowsillIcelandic children leave a shoe in the window in the nights before Christmas, and the Lads leave something in it. A figure who looks through windows has an obvious place to stand.
- More curious than hungryMost of his brothers are after food. The National Museum of Iceland describes this one as less greedy: he liked to look in, and sometimes took the toys he saw.
- Lovable, with an edgeBrian Pilkington, who illustrated The Yule Lads (2001) and designed this figure, has said the brothers cannot simply be jolly like Santa. He wanted them lovable but a little bit naughty.
- Six reviews, six times five starsThe most recent, from November 2025, says he arrived safe and sound. An earlier one calls the figure perfect.
- The story comes with himInside the box is a small booklet in English on the thirteen Lads, their troll parents Grýla and Leppalúði and the Yule Cat, so whoever unwraps him learns who he is.
- On the National Museum's shelves tooThe shop of the National Museum of Iceland lists Brian Pilkington's Yule Lad figures by name, Gluggagægir among them.
