- Comes 16 December, fifth of the thirteen
- A wink and a black cooking pot
- POTTASLEIKIR in gold up the side of the ring
Pottasleikir, Pot Licker, is the fifth of Iceland's thirteen Yule Lads and comes on 16 December. In the old stories he waited for the pots nobody had washed yet, made off with them and licked out what was left. The National Museum of Iceland knows him as Pot Scraper.
On this hanging ornament, designed by Brian Pilkington, he winks as he strides through a red ring with a black cooking pot in his hand. He is painted by hand front and back, down to the patch on his trousers, is about 7.5 cm (3 in), and comes boxed with a small English booklet. A tree decoration, not a toy. - A new lad every yearAnother customer has added one ornament each year since a trip to Iceland, had six at the time of writing, and was working towards the full set.
- Fifth night, 16 DecemberHe comes after Spoon Licker and before Bowl Licker, the middle of three brothers who raid the kitchen for scraps.
