A zip — the pattern gives no type or length and says to measure for it once the cardigan is rinsed and dried, before cutting; the photos show a black open-ended (separating) one — stitch holders, a sewing machine to secure the steek, and needle and thread to sew in the zip.
How it is knitted
Knitted in the round from the bottom up, with two purl stitches at centre front for the steek. The hem starts with a few rows of mimosa stocking stitch that roll, the cuffs with rolled royal fuchsia, each followed by a narrow 4-round border. Body and sleeves are joined for the round yoke — a 37-round chart of zigzags and diamonds in galaxy, royal fuchsia, lagoon, mimosa and apricot. The neck is a short apricot rib topped by rolled lagoon. The steek is machine-sewn, the cardigan rinsed and dried, then cut open and the zip sewn in by hand.
