About the yarn

Icelandic wool meets Thai silk

Einrúm is a special Icelandic blend: 80% pure Icelandic wool plied with 20% pure Thai silk, made at Ístex for Einrúm. The silk adds drape, softness and a subtle sheen that pure lopi does not have — a fine yarn for shawls and garments with a bit of occasion in them.

Good to know

Einrúm questions, answered

What does the silk change?
Drape, softness and a subtle sheen. Garments fall more elegantly than pure wool and feel gentler against the skin, while the Icelandic wool keeps them warm.
What needles should I use?
3–4 mm, as a fingering-weight yarn. As always, knit a swatch to check your tension.
Is it really made in Iceland?
Yes — spun at Ístex, Iceland's wool mill, from Icelandic wool and imported Thai silk.

Einrúm is a special blend Icelandic yarn combining wool with Tencel for a soft sheen and beautiful drape, ideal for shawls, light garments and accessories. Its unique fibre mix makes it a treat to knit and to wear.

An exclusive Icelandic yarn, shipped worldwide from Iceland by The Icelandic Store.
