Overview
What's in the kit
Védís Jónsdóttir’s Glypja from Ístex’s Lopi 28: a long, narrow Álafosslopi scarf, knitted in a rib with dropped yarn-overs that leave open ladders between the ribs, and finished with tassels at both ends. The pattern’s orchid (0159) is no longer made; this kit has 0163 dark soft purple in its place — a deeper, darker purple than the orchid in the photo.
Included
- Icelandic Álafosslopi wool yarn — the 2 balls the pattern asks for, in dark soft purple (one size)
- Knitting pattern in English (PDF) — emailed right after purchase
- ADDI knitting needles — only if you choose the kit with needles

Gauge
No gauge is given — the scarf is 20 stitches wide and very stretchy.
Needles used in the pattern (included when you choose the kit with needles)
6 mm (US 10) circular needle, 60 cm, used back and forth
Not included
A crochet hook for attaching the fringe (the pattern gives no size).
How it is knitted
Knitted back and forth over 20 stitches on 6 mm needles in a stretchy rib: each knit column has a yarn-over that is dropped on the next row, which leaves open ladders between the ribs. The scarf is knitted to 190 cm, the last yarn-overs are secured, and it is bound off in rib. Both ends get a fringe of 3-strand tassels, one at every knit column, 42 strands of 40 cm in all.
Design: Védís Jónsdóttir — pattern from Lopi No. 28 (no. 20), Ístex.
