Icelandic wool, designed in Iceland
The blanket Icelanders reach for
Light on the lap and properly warm, because Icelandic wool has two layers: long outer fibres that shrug off damp, soft inner fibres that hold the heat. Air it out rather than wash it, and it lasts for years.
Why you'll love it
- Knitted in Hvammstangi, not just designed thereKidka knits and sews this blanket in its own factory in North-West Iceland, from Icelandic wool spun and dyed in Iceland, and says the wool never leaves the country during production.
- The present people come back forReviewers have bought this beige one for a friend, for a daughter back from Iceland, and for themselves after seeing it on a trip and leaving without it.
- The colour of the sheepCream, tan and brown are all natural shades of the Icelandic fleece, which is why the blanket looks at home next to wood and linen.
- Forty years at the knitting machinesKidka calls itself one of Iceland's leading knitting factories, with more than 40 years of experience, and says knitwear made entirely in Iceland has become rare.
