How big is the map on the blanket?

It is one outline, not a repeat, and it fills most of the blanket: on a single bed it runs from side to side. The Westfjords, the fjords of the east and the south coast are all there in the white line.

Is the map on both sides?

No. The outline is knitted into the front. The back is the same wool in a plain grey mix, so when a corner folds over you see grey, not a mirror image.

Is it really black?

Charcoal rather than jet black: the yarn has grey fibres in it, which you see up close and in our label photo. From across the room it reads as black with a white line.

How does Icelandic wool feel?

Lofty and lightly brushed on the surface, since Kidka washes, brushes and steams the blanket after knitting. It is light for its size and warm within minutes. One reviewer uses his partly to keep warm, partly as decoration.

How do I wash it?

Seldom. Kidka's own advice is that an airing is often enough. When it needs it, hand wash in lukewarm water with wool detergent or use a wool programme at no more than 30 °C, dry it flat, and never tumble dry.
