Q: Which size should I choose?

Lay a sweater that already fits you well flat and measure straight across the chest just under the arms, then match that number to the chest width column in the size table. Heimdallur is cut like Fennrir, our best-selling men's sweater: size L is 57 cm (22.4 in) across, and the range runs from 51 cm in S to 66 cm in 3XL. We cannot alter a sweater, so pick the nearest size.

Q: Are the colours as strong as they look in the photos?

The photos are our own, taken outdoors in Icelandic daylight, so they are a fair guide: a clear red, a warm golden yellow and a deep forest green on light beige. Screens differ a little. One reviewer wrote simply that the colours are amazing.

Q: How does it feel to wear?

Thick and springy, with the dry feel of Icelandic wool, and lighter on the shoulders than its thickness suggests. Wear it over a shirt or a long-sleeved top, the way Icelanders wear theirs. One owner in Britain wears his until the last cold days of spring and then puts it away for the summer.

Q: How do I wash it?

By hand, in lukewarm water, with a mild wool soap such as Lopisápa. Swish it gently, never rub or twist, rinse in lukewarm water, press the water out and lay it flat on a towel to dry, away from heat and sun. Store it folded in a cool, dry place, not in a plastic bag.

Q: Can I exchange it if the size is wrong?

Yes. An unworn sweater in its original condition can be exchanged for another size under our return policy, linked at the foot of every page. Return postage is yours to pay unless the sweater is faulty or the mistake is ours.

This is an authentic Icelandic Lopapeysa which is now a protected product name by the Icelandic food and vetinary authority. To qualify as such it must be made from wool sheered from Icelandic sheep. The wool shall be new, not recycled. The sweater must be knit from Icelandic lopi and it shall be hand knitted in Iceland.

Hand Washing: Icelandic wool sweaters should be hand-washed in lukewarm water using a mild detergent that's suitable for wool; Lopasápa
Avoid Agitation: Gently swish the sweater in the water without rubbing or twisting it, as wool is susceptible to damage when wet.
Rinsing: Thoroughly rinse the sweater in lukewarm water until all soap residue is removed.
Drying: Press out excess water without wringing, and lay the sweater flat on a towel to air dry. Avoid hanging or exposing it to direct heat or sunlight.
