Description

Bylgja — Wave. A modern Léttlopi sweater by Guðbjörg Pálmadóttir, knitted from the top down in light ash grey, with four wavy lines down the front worked in four contrast shades (crocheted on with slip stitches or embroidered in duplicate stitch). Three-quarter-length sleeves give it a light, everyday feel.

Which size should I knit?

There are five sizes, XS to XL, with a chest of 85, 91, 95, 102 and 108 cm (33½ to 42½″) all round. The body is 50 to 58 cm from underarm to hem, so it sits long. Compare with a sweater that fits you the way you like.

Is the yarn for the wave in the kit?

No. The kit holds the grey body yarn only. The wave uses about 2 to 3 metres each of four Léttlopi colours: 0054 light ash heather, 0058 dark grey heather, 0005 black heather and 9417 dark wine.

How is the wave made?

After knitting, with a 3.5 mm crochet hook. You hold the yarn inside the sweater, push the hook through from the right side and draw loops through the fabric and the loop on the hook, like a chain of slip stitches. Or embroider the lines in duplicate stitch.

Will I have yarn left over?

The kit holds 9 balls of 0056 Ash Heather, the amount for XL. Sizes XS and S use 7 balls, and M and L use 8.

What does the kit with needles include?

5.5 mm (US 9) and 4.5 mm (US 7) circular needles, each in 40 and 60 cm, 5.5 mm double-pointed needles and a 3.5 mm (US E-4) crochet hook — ADDI. The pattern also lists 4.5 mm double-pointed needles, used for the purl round at the cuffs; they are not in the kit.
