Sporður — your questions, answered

Which size should I knit?
There are four sizes, S, M, L and XL. A poncho has no chest measurement, so the pattern gives the width all round the lower edge — 204, 213, 224 and 233 cm — and the length at the side from hem to neckline, 48 to 50 cm.
How is the poncho made?
In one piece, in the round from the lower edge up. You cast on very loosely, knit a light seed stitch rib, then decrease 4 stitches every other round at centre front and centre back. The yoke pattern is knitted from a chart with its own decreases, and the collar comes last.
What is light seed stitch rib?
A four-round edge used at the hem: knit 1, purl 1; a plain knit round; purl 1, knit 1; and another plain knit round, repeated. The collar uses a light 2×2 rib in the same spirit — a round of knit 2, purl 2, then a plain knit round.
Will I have yarn left over?
The kit holds 3 plates of gulf stream, the amount for M, L and XL; size S uses 2. One plate of light grey covers the yoke pattern and the collar in every size.
What does the kit with needles include?
ADDI 4.5 mm (US 7) circular needles in 40 and 80 cm and a 3.5 mm (US 4) circular needle in 40 cm — the needles the pattern names. No double-pointed needles are needed.
What is Plötulopi?
Unspun Icelandic wool, sold in 100 g plates rather than balls. This pattern knits it at 18 stitches to 10 cm on 4.5 mm needles.
