This free raglan sweater knitting pattern is an Ístex leaflet designed by Védís Jónsdóttir. The leaflet itself has no name; in our shop it is called Pink. It is plain stocking stitch, knitted in the round with two strands of Álafoss Lopi held together on 12 mm needles, at 8 stitches to 10 cm.
About the Pink raglan sweater pattern
- Sizes S, M, L, XL: chest 38, 40, 42, 44 in all the way round (about 96.5, 101.5, 106.5 and 112 cm, our conversion). The leaflet gives inches only.
- Length to shoulder 21.5, 22.5, 23.25, 24 in; sleeve 19, 20, 20, 20 in to the underarm.
- Yarn: Álafoss Lopi, 100 g balls, used two strands together: 8, 9, 9, 10 balls.
- Needles: two 12 mm (US 17) circular needles, 80 cm.
Body and sleeves start with just two rounds of K1, P1 rib and are then knitted plain. They are joined for the raglan yoke, where the decreases run along the four raglan lines; in the last part of the yoke the sleeves are also decreased at the centre. The neck finishes with two rounds of K1, P1 rib.
The yarn
The leaflet lists 0159 warm rose and notes that this “original color” is “no longer available”. Our suggestion, not the leaflet’s: two pinks from Ístex’s current Álafoss Lopi range, 9969 fuchsia heather and 1240 dark magenta (our shop’s names). Either one is the same yarn, so you need the same number of balls. Any other Álafoss Lopi colour works the same way.
