What's in the kit
Olga Begak’s Lofoten Hat: a colourwork beanie in eight colours of Léttlopi — the same eight as her Lofoten Cod Fish Lopapeysa — with a band of large ovals in frostbite green and golden, filled with a rust checker, between apricot and light blue bands, on black sheep heather. One adult size, about 25 cm long.

Size
One adult size — to fit a head circumference of 55–60 cm (21¾–23½″). The hat is about 25 cm (9¾″) long.
Gauge
16 sts × 20 rows = 10 cm (4″) in stocking stitch — the colourwork is knitted on 4.5 mm needles.
Needles used in the pattern (included when you choose the kit with needles)
3.5 mm (US 4) and 4.5 mm (US 7) needles, circular or double-pointed — the pattern gives no lengths. The kit with needles has 3.5 mm and 4.5 mm circulars in 40 cm and 4.5 mm double-pointed needles for the crown, because the pattern starts on a circular and changes to double-pointed needles “when necessary”.
Not included
9 stitch markers (one between each pattern repeat) and a darning needle.
How it is knitted
Knitted in the round from the brim up. The brim is 8 rounds of k2, p2 rib in black sheep heather on 3.5 mm; then 4.5 mm needles and a 47-round chart in eight colours, repeated nine times around the hat: a light blue band, small apricot and golden motifs, a band of large upright ovals in frostbite green and golden with a rust checker inside, apricot diamonds, a blue band of small crosses, and dark crown wedges with light blue dots. The crown decreases are drawn into the chart, and many rounds carry three colours at once. The yarn is drawn through the last stitches to close the top.
