Jökulblámi means “glacier blue” in Icelandic: the blue of glacier ice. Védís Jónsdóttir designed this Léttlopi blanket for Ístex as a small woven check in deep teal and bright turquoise, finished with a fringe at both short ends.
At 110 × 170 cm (about 43 × 67 in) it is smaller than most of our blankets, and that is the point: it is a throw for one. Pull it around your shoulders in a reading chair, lay it over your knees on the sofa, or keep it folded at the end of a single bed.
Icelandic wool is warm without being heavy. The fleece has fine, soft inner fibres that hold the heat and long, glossy outer fibres that shed damp. Air it out between uses — wool rarely needs washing.
