Mímir or Mim is a figure in Norse mythology, renowned for his knowledge and wisdom, who is beheaded during the Æsir-Vanir War. Afterward, the god Odin carries around Mímir's head and it recites secret knowledge and counsel to him

Hand Washing: Icelandic wool sweaters should be hand-washed in lukewarm water using a mild detergent that's suitable for wool; Lopasápa
Avoid Agitation: Gently swish the sweater in the water without rubbing or twisting it, as wool is susceptible to damage when wet.
Rinsing: Thoroughly rinse the sweater in lukewarm water until all soap residue is removed.
Drying: Press out excess water without wringing, and lay the sweater flat on a towel to air dry. Avoid hanging or exposing it to direct heat or sunlight.
Storage: Store the wool sweater in a dry and cool place, preferably folded. Avoid using plastic bags, as they can trap moisture and cause damage. More info

Who was Mímir?

A figure in Norse mythology known for his wisdom. He was beheaded in the war between the Æsir and the Vanir, and the god Odin kept his head, which went on giving him secret knowledge and counsel. The sweater takes his name, nothing more; the zigzag yoke is a traditional lopapeysa pattern.

Which size should I choose?

Lay a sweater or cardigan that already fits you well flat and measure straight across the chest just under the arms, then match that number to the chest width column in the size table. Mímir is cut like our best-selling Fennrir: size L is 57 cm (22.4 in) across. We cannot alter a cardigan, so pick the nearest size.

Is a cardigan as warm as a pullover?

Buttoned up, yes. Mímir is knitted from the same three strands of Plötulopi as our thickest pullovers, so the fabric is just as dense. The difference is the front: when you come in from the cold you can undo the buttons instead of pulling the whole sweater over your head.

How does it feel to wear?

Thick and springy. Three strands of unspun Plötulopi make a lofty fabric that holds its shape, with the dry, slightly crisp hand of Icelandic wool. A lopapeysa is worn over a shirt, the way Icelanders wear theirs, and worn that way it is comfortable all day.

Can I exchange it if the size is wrong?

Yes. An unused cardigan in its original condition can be exchanged for another size under our return policy, linked at the foot of every page. Return postage is yours to pay unless the cardigan is faulty or the mistake is ours.
