Lakkrís Villiköttur is Freyja's Villiköttur bar with the caramel turned to liquorice: a dark liquorice caramel, flavoured with liquorice extract and salmiak, with crisp rice and a biscuit, all in milk chocolate with min. 35% cocoa solids. The crunch keeps the soft caramel company.

Villiköttur means "wild cat". It comes from Freyja, Iceland's oldest working sweet maker (1918), whose sweets are made in Kópavogur. Sold singly or as a pack of five.

Good to know: contains milk, wheat and liquorice, with barley malt in the crisp rice; may contain traces of tree nuts. Contains gelatine. Store cool and dry.

How strong is the liquorice?

Freyja flavours the caramel with liquorice extract and ammonium chloride, the salmiak that gives Nordic liquorice its salty edge. Milk chocolate, crisp rice and biscuit sit around it, so it is a caramel bar with a liquorice bite rather than a stick of liquorice.

Does it contain gluten?

Yes. Wheat flour and barley malt extract are both in the recipe. Milk is in it too, and Freyja's may-contain line names tree nuts.

Is it vegetarian?

No. Gelatine is in the ingredient list.

Will chocolate melt on the way?

Milk chocolate and caramel soften in warm months. We do not refund melted chocolate unless you add Shipping protection in the cart (terms of service, sections 9 and 10). A soft bar is fine again after an hour in the fridge.

Will I pay duties or customs on delivery?

Not in the US or Canada — duties and taxes are settled at checkout, so nothing is owed at the door. For other destinations, any local import charges are collected by the courier on delivery.
