Description

Freyja Djúpur are little white pearls: a soft, mildly salty liquorice core, a layer of milk chocolate, and a thin, crisp sugar shell around it. Bite one and it goes crackle, melt, then that gentle salted liquorice at the centre. Small enough that you never eat just one; a bag lasts an evening if you're lucky.

Djúpur means "deep" — the liquorice is buried at the centre, under the chocolate and the shell. Freyja has been making chocolate and sweets in Reykjavík since 1918.

Is the liquorice strong?

Mildly salty, and it is the small centre under chocolate and a sugar shell — so it lands gently. Stronger than Snowballs, milder than Goa Bingo.

How does it compare with Snowballs?
