Eyjar — “islands”, in snow and cold. Védís Jónsdóttir’s yoke sweater from Ístex’s Lopi 44 has a white Plötulopi body, a yoke in oatmeal and dark grey, a collar, and a ribbed hem knitted in two pieces so it opens a little at the sides.

How it is knitted
The ribbed hem is knitted back and forth in two pieces, front and back, then joined and the body is knitted in the round. The sleeves are knitted in the round, then joined to the body and the yoke is knitted in the round from a chart. It finishes with a collar.

How is the split hem made?

The front and back rib are cast on and knitted back and forth separately in 2×2 rib for 10 cm; the back has 4 stitches more than the front. Then the two pieces are joined and the body is knitted in the round.

Which size should I knit?

Four sizes — S, M, L and XL — with a chest of 90, 101, 113 and 124 cm all round.

What is Plötulopi?

Unspun Icelandic wool, sold in 100 g plates rather than balls. This pattern works it as 2-ply Plötulopi at 14 stitches to 10 cm on 5.5 mm needles.

Will I have yarn left over?

The kit holds the amount for XL: 5 plates of white and 2 of dark grey. Sizes S to L use 4 white and 1 dark grey.

What does the kit with needles include?
