Why you'll love it

  • Classic and elegantThat is how Tove Richter describes Elina, and she writes that single-ply Plötulopi gives the most beautiful garments — light and soft.
  • The pattern’s own ivoryIvory beige is the main colour of the original Elina. Here the berry pattern colour, now out of production, is replaced by blues blue.
  • A gentle waistSlight waist shaping on the body, then 5 cm of k2, p2 rib at the hem and 8 cm at the cuffs.
  • From the neck downCast on at the neck in blue, increase through the yoke chart, and lower the front neckline with German short rows before dividing for body and sleeves.
  • Ivory and blue, or your ownKeep the ivory beige and blues blue, or swap either for another Plötulopi shade in the colour picker at no charge.

Good to know

Elina — your questions, answered

Which size should I knit?
There are nine sizes, 2XS to 4XL, with a chest of 83, 87, 94, 100, 104, 108, 116, 124 and 132 cm all round (32¾–52″). The body is 40–46 cm long to the underarm and the sleeves 45–51 cm.
Why blue instead of the berry in the photo?
The pattern notes that its original pattern colour, 1050 berry heather, has been taken out of production. This kit keeps the original 1038 ivory beige and uses 2022 blues blue for the pattern and neck edge.
Will I have yarn left over?
The kit holds 4 plates of 1038 ivory beige and 1 of 2022 blues blue — the amount for 2XL to 4XL. 2XS uses 2 plates of ivory beige and XS to XL use 3, so smaller sizes have one or two plates over.
How is it knitted?
From the top down in the round. You cast on at the neck in the pattern colour on 3 mm needles, knit 3 rounds and 2 rounds of k1, p1 rib, then increase through the yoke chart by lifting and twisting the strand between stitches. Short rows lower the front neckline; the body has slight waist shaping.
What does the kit with needles include?
ADDI needles: 4.5 mm (US 7) circular needles in 40 and 80 cm, 3 mm (US 2½) circular needles in 40 and 80 cm, and 4.5 mm double-pointed needles. The pattern gives its gauge, 19 stitches to 10 cm, on 4 mm (US 6) needles — knit a swatch first. The four stitch markers and tapestry needle are not included.
