Why you'll love it

  • Classic and elegantTove Richter’s own words for Elina are delicious, classic and elegant: a round yoke of light ash and plum above a deep plum body.
  • One strand of PlötulopiKnitted with a single strand of unspun Plötulopi, which the designer says gives the most beautiful garments, light and soft.
  • From the neck downBegun at the neck and knitted downwards, so you can try it on and choose where the body and sleeves end before you knit the ribs.
  • Lower at the frontGerman short rows across the back, at the bottom of the yoke and again at the top of the body, bring the front of the neck lower than the back.
  • Dark plum, or the originalThe pattern’s own colours are ivory beige with berry heather; this kit turns it around with a plum body and light ash. Swap either colour in the colour picker at no charge.

Good to know

Elina — your questions, answered

Which size should I knit?
Nine sizes, 2XS to 4XL, with a chest of 83, 87, 94, 100, 104, 108, 116, 124 and 132 cm (32¾ to 52″) all round. Pick the one nearest a sweater that fits you; the body has a slight waist shaping.
How is it knitted from the top down?
You cast on at the neck in light ash on 3 mm needles and knit a short edge and rib, then work the yoke chart, increasing as it shows. Body and sleeves are then divided and knitted downwards, and both end in K2 P2 rib — 5 cm on the body and 8 cm at the cuffs.
Can I make it longer or shorter?
Yes. The pattern has you knit the body until it is 5 cm short of the length you want and the sleeves until they are 8 cm short, then add the ribs — so you can try it on and decide.
Will I have yarn left over?
The kit holds 4 plates of plum, the amount for 2XL to 4XL. Size 2XS uses 2 plates and XS to XL use 3. One plate of light ash covers every size.
What does the kit with needles include?
ADDI 4.5 mm (US 7) circular needles in 40 and 80 cm, 3 mm (US 2½) circular needles in 40 and 80 cm, and 4.5 mm double-pointed needles.
Is there anything else I need?
Four stitch markers — the pattern suggests one in a different colour for the start of the round — and a tapestry needle. They are not in the kit.
