Good to know

Týra — your questions, answered

Why is one colour different from the pattern?
Sun yellow (1411) is no longer made. This kit has mimosa (1703) in its place — colour E, used only for the small yellow dots in one round of the band. Mimosa is a warm golden yellow, very close to the yellow in the photo. You can choose another shade in the colour picker.
What size is it?
One size, printed as children’s size 3–6. The pattern gives no measurements; by our calculation it is about 44 cm (17¼″) round, before stretching. The brim is 14 rounds of K1, P1 rib on 3.5 mm needles, folded up into a double brim.
Will I have yarn left over?
Yes. The kit holds one ball of each colour, as the pattern lists — navy blue, spring green heather, mimosa and pink heather, 4 balls. Spring green and mimosa are used only in the narrow band, so most of those two balls is left over (our estimate). The pattern calls spring green heather and pink heather simply spring green and pink.
Which rounds of the chart do I knit?
The hat has no chart of its own: it says only to knit the pattern “for hat from chart 2” — the body chart of the sweater, printed next to the hat. Beside rounds 57 to 63 of that chart is a bracket marked “pattern hat 12”. Our reading: these are the hat’s 7 rounds (the hat is no. 12 in the leaflet) — they use exactly the hat’s four colours and match the band in the photo. The 80 stitches fit the chart’s 8-stitch repeat 10 times. The 4 plain rounds before the band have no colour named; they are navy in the photo.
Is the sweater in the photo included?
No. The Týra sweater is in the same Ístex leaflet and is sold as a separate kit, for sizes 3 to 7. The jeans in the photo are not part of the pattern.
What does the kit with needles include?
3.5 mm (US 4) and 4.5 mm (US 7) circular needles in 40 cm; 4.5 mm (US 7) double-pointed needles for the crown — ADDI, as named in the pattern.
