Védís Jónsdóttir’s Þel from Ístex’s Lopi 25: a long, draped wrap cardigan for women, knitted all in K2, P2 rib in oatmeal heather Léttlopi, a light brown. The body is a single rectangle with two armhole slits, so it falls into a wide shawl collar and long points at the front.

Size
One size, 36–44. Length at centre back 60 cm (23½″); sleeve length 50 cm (19¾″). The pattern gives no chest measurement: the body is one rib rectangle of about 66 × 144 cm (our calculation from the stitch count, the gauge and the lengths in the pattern) that wraps round into a shawl collar and long front points.

How it is knitted
The body is one rectangle of K2, P2 rib knitted back and forth on the 80 cm circular, from a crochet cast-on that looks like a cast-off edge. Two armhole slits are made by casting off 40 stitches and casting them on again on the next row, 44 cm apart. The sleeves are ribbed in the round from the cuff, increased under the arm, and sewn into the slits. Worn, the rectangle folds into a wide shawl collar with long points at the front. Buttons are sewn along the lower edges and up the sleeves as decoration.

What size is it?

One size, for sizes 36 to 44. It is 60 cm long at the centre back with 50 cm sleeves. The body is a rib rectangle that wraps round you, so it has no fixed chest measurement.

Is it a cardigan without buttons?

Yes — it is an open wrap with no fastening. The 36 buttons in the pattern are only decoration, sewn along the lower edges and up the sleeves; they are not included.
