Good to know

Tattó — your questions, answered

Which size should I knit?
Four sizes, S to XL — a chest of 102 to 124 cm, 64 to 70 cm long and sleeves of 51 to 54 cm.
Will I have yarn left over?
The kit holds 8 balls of white, the amount for L and XL. S and M use 7.
Who is it for?
Experienced knitters. The pattern is short on detail in places: the front neck shaping is not given size by size, so you will work it out yourself; the sleeve top gives the stitches left but not how many to cast off; and in size XL, casting off 6 stitches at each armhole leaves 75 stitches, not the printed 78 — 3 at each side matches the later counts.
Is it a yoke sweater?
No — the body is knitted in the round to the armholes, then front and back are knitted flat, the shoulders sewn and the sleeves set in.
Which sweater in the photo is this one?
The woman’s — she wears Tattó in white. The man wears the same pattern in light beige heather, which is also a kit. The tucks show best on her left sleeve and upper chest.
What does the kit with needles include?
A 5 mm (US 8) circular needle in 80 cm; 6 mm (US 10) circular needles in 40 and 80 cm; 5 mm and 6 mm double-pointed needles — ADDI, as named in the pattern. The pattern lists only 5 mm double-pointed needles, but each sleeve changes to 6 mm after the cuff and has only 44 to 46 stitches after the first round — too few to go round a 40 cm circular — so the kit adds 6 mm double-pointed needles.
