Stúfur ("Stubby") is the third of Iceland's thirteen Yule Lads. He comes down from the mountains on the night of 14 December and, being small and nimble, sneaks in to lick the crusty scraps — pönnuskán — off frying pans while no one is looking. Mischievous, never mean. Made in Iceland by Kandís, who use only fine-flavour cacao — about 8% of the world's beans qualify, they say — here from South America.
