Ris is a graphic colorwork poncho designed by Védís Jónsdóttir, worked primarily in Léttlopi with neat facing details in Einband. The fabric is light yet warm, and the clean lines of the charted motif give the piece a modern look that layers easily over everyday outfits. Construction is straightforward and secure thanks to clearly marked steek stitches at the sides and a tidy pickup for borders and collar.
What’s in the kit
The yarn included in the kit is enough to make the largest size of the sweater. Knitting pins are optional and included only if you choose the ‘With needles’ variant. Kit yarns follow the original palette from the pattern: Léttlopi shades A–F and Einband shade G as listed below. Pattern format: Not specified in PDF. Knitting needles & notions
Circular needle 4.5 mm (80–100 cm); circular needles 3.5 mm (40 & 80/100 cm).
Notions: 2 clasps.
Gauge
18 sts × 24 rows = 10 × 10 cm in stockinette stitch on 4.5 mm needles (adjust needle size to obtain gauge).
Construction
Poncho is worked in the round with 2 purl steek stitches at both sides; the sides are cut open after securing the steek. Patterning is charted; neckline shaping follows the charts with bind‑offs and decreases. Borders are worked, facings are folded and sewn, and the ribbed collar is picked up and knitted. Finish with a light rinse/block and attach clasps.
