Lopi 18 No. 27 — your questions, answered

Why are all three colours different from the pattern?
Loden green (9239), ash (9364) and golden green (9240) are no longer made by Ístex, so every colour in this kit is a replacement. Garden green (1231) is in place of loden green — the main colour (M): the body, the sleeves and the green in both charts. In the photo the loden green is a deep moss green; garden green is a clear leaf green, lighter and brighter than the photo and noticeably less yellow, so your sweater will be a lighter, fresher green. Light ash heather (0054) is in place of ash — colour
Which size should I knit?
Three sizes, XS, S and M, with a chest of 98, 105 and 111 cm and a length of 60 to 66 cm to the front neck. Sleeves are 41 to 43 cm for women and 46 to 48 cm for men. There is no larger size, so compare the chest with a sweater that fits you the way you like.
Will I have yarn left over?
The kit holds the amount for size M: 6 balls of garden green, 3 of light ash heather and 1 of highland green — 10 balls. XS uses 8 balls (5 of garden green and 2 of light ash heather) and S uses 10, like M. The pattern gives one amount for both sleeve lengths.
Anything to watch for?
A few small things. Start both charts where they mark your size: chart 1 has its own start for the body and for the sleeves. The smaller sizes skip rounds 1 and 36 of the yoke chart, size XS also round 28, as marked beside the chart. In size S the front has 2 stitches fewer than the back when the yoke is joined (58 and 60); the total is right, so knit it as written. On the sleeves, increase on round 2 and then 5 (6) 7 more times, every 8th round for women or every 9th for men, to reach the printed 52 (54) 56 stitches.
Which photo shows this version?
The young man on the right, in the green pullover — this is Design 27, knitted in the original loden green, ash and golden green. The young woman on the left wears Design 26 from the same leaflet, a hooded midnight blue cardigan, sold as a separate kit (Lopi 18 No. 26). The dark trousers are not part of the pattern.
What does the kit with needles include?
A 4.5 mm (US 7) circular needle in 80 cm; 6 mm (US 10) circular needles in 40 and 80 cm; 4.5 mm and 6 mm double-pointed needles — ADDI, as named in the pattern. The pattern lists only 4.5 mm double-pointed needles, but each sleeve changes to 6 mm after the cuff with only 40 stitches — about 31 cm round (our calculation), too few to go round a 40 cm circular — so the kit adds 6 mm double-pointed needles.
