Lopi 12 No. 8 — your questions, answered

Which size should I knit?
Four sizes, XS to L — a chest of 101 to 120 cm, 51 to 56 cm long to the front neck and sleeves of 40 to 44 cm.
Will I have yarn left over?
The kit holds the amount for sizes M and L: 6 balls of white, 3 of light ash and 1 of light beige. XS and S use 5 balls of white.
What closes the front?
Six hooks — the pattern gives no type or size. The photo shows silver-tone clasps. They are not included.
Is the front cut open?
Yes. A purl stitch runs up each side of the centre front; you sew two rows of machine stitching into each and cut between them, so you need a sewing machine. The pattern also says the body, sleeves and yoke can be knitted back and forth instead, with no cutting.
Is the man’s sweater in the photo included?
No — it is Lopi 12 no. 20, a different pattern.
Anything to watch for?
The hem border is knitted on the 5 mm needle; change to 6 mm after it. The pattern refers to an illustration on page 2 that is not in the PDF; the text describes every step without it.
What does the kit with needles include?
A 5 mm (US 8) circular needle in 80 cm; 6 mm (US 10) circular needles in 40 and 80 cm; 5 mm and 6 mm double-pointed needles — ADDI, as named in the pattern. The pattern lists only 5 mm double-pointed needles, but each sleeve changes to 6 mm after the cuff and has only 38 to 44 stitches after the first round — too few to go round a 40 cm circular — so the kit adds 6 mm double-pointed needles. The hooks are not included.
